River Ave Haulin

Last week I decided to make a short fishing session on a small river about 4 miles from my home. The river is small but has a large population of carp, most of which are no more than 10 pounds of weight. I was planning a 10 hours session and decided to pre-bait the night before in a swim I choose that was 8 feet deep, 2 foot from the margin bank under a overhanging tree that was leaning over the river which created a zone of shade that certainly would be visited by the carp in their search for food. The bottom was hard gravel and with some snags. The bait used was BBQ sardine boilies, the ground bait was composed by mixed carp pellets, trout pellets, fish meal, flour and 50ml of BBQ sardine amino liquid food per 2 pound of mix.

The rig I used was my ever successful balanced bottom bait rig with a in line feeder of 2 ounces, on one of the rigs I used a BBQ sardine boilie with a grain of fake sweet corn on top, in the other rig the always successful snow-man with a BBQ sardine boilie and a BBQ sardine pop-up on top, then to make my hook baits more attractive I have soaked them in BBQ sardine amino liquid food.

I cast my rods out and I put the line on the clip to insure that I allays hit the baited spot. After 30 min the first rod was off, the fight was good but it was a small carp of less than 6lbs, these river carp are very strong even this little carp make my 13 foot 3.5lb rod bend. The carp was very active, despite the water being very brown due to rain, they will not resist the smell and taste of my boilies, every 30 minutes I had one or two runs, but almost all carp were less than 10lbs in weight. I don’t waste time photographing all the fish I just photograph the first carp and the two biggest, more exactly which were 12lbs and 14lb 5oz.

I will keep baiting this swim for future fishing session.
