River Fishing near Osaka Japan

Hi again from Japan, the weather has been a bit difficult to fish and work has taken a lot of precious fishing time, but I have been able to get a day session on a river near Osaka called Yamatogawa. I have fished this river twice before last winter which resulted in a blank and a 6 fish catch up to 18 pound, so the fish are not that large but there was a lot of fish present, but I couldn’t crack it.

It has a factory inlet which is warm water so it’s a winter hot spot. So this year I went with the ocean fresh green lipped hard hookers and robin red squid. My friend and I arrived about 7am in the morning, the tide was low so I baited some of the bars that were showing with pellets and freebies and waited for the tide to rise, by about 8 the bars were covered and the fish were there on the bait.

2 hours went by but no fish, my friend had 2 about 6lb by this time on a different bait, so I thought maybe they are not used to this bait, so I changed one rod to his bait and caught a small one straight away but kept trying on the other rods with ocean fresh, after this my green lipped ripped off with a 15lb common and then the action was insane.

Between about 9am till 4:30pm I had 21 carp to 17lb, not that big but I had 6 fish over 14lb. My friend finished with 4 fish and one of them was caught on ocean fresh because he couldn’t get a bite after the morning feed. Oh I did keep one on his bait but ocean fresh green lipped out fished this rod 4 to 1.

Thank you for my best day fishing in 15 years carp fishing.
