The location of where I was fishing is at my local venue known as “Farley Moor” in Bracknell just off Longshot Lane. I arrived at the lake at 11:30 am after getting everything ready, at first there were no signs of fish, “this didn’t look good” I put out a small handful of baits around the north east side of island that produces good fish all year round. A few bubbles came up that shown fish were in the area and moving around, so that was my choice of swim to fish. It was getting on for 12:15 so I put some more scopex squid and robin red boilies out to move the fish off the baited spot to get a rod in. I made up a 20p sized pva bag and fished it tight to the island with a small piece of cork drilled through the middle of the bait to give it that lift in the water on a KD rig.

About half an hour later I had a ferocious take with a cap taking me straight in the snags but not very far in so I lowered the rod and that encouraged the fish out. After 10 a minute battle it was in the net and on the mat. It was beautiful common carp quite lightly shaded.

The weather was slightly overcast with the odd break out of blue, and it was also quite windy that made it cold and lots of ripples on the water. The second rod was out in open water but had a few liners but no takes. As the day grew on I then had two more takes that two mirror carp based around the 10lb mark. All in all a good winter day fishing.
