Feeder Fishing with soft hook and feed pellets

My good poker-buddy (I know I have too many hobbies) Marc, invited me to go feeder fishing with him on the Albertkanaal between Genk and Bilzen. Since I never had an experience with feeder-fishing and am always happy to discover new kinds of fishing I gladly accepted his invitation.

The one problem I had with going feeder fishing (no gear !!! ) was solved by Marc with ease,
When I phoned him at quarter to 7 in the morning in question to ask him what to bring he told me that everything was already installed and he was waiting for me to arrive.

On the spot I saw he was right, I just had to sit down on my chair and start fishing, good man this Marc, maybe I’ll let him win next time with poker (or maybe not). The way up to my spot we sadly noticed a dead carp on the surface I estimated it to be a 30 pound common, sad but true…

I gave Marc some soft pellets crab and strawberry, he mixed them up in his bait and off we went…. We fed for about 15 minutes on a spot about 20 metres from the side, out of the way of the passing boats.

The fishing began, and soon Marc was into some action, he quickly caught several bream on the crab pellets, so he was quickly convinced about their attractiveness…

I started of with some casters and maggots but wasn’t receiving any takes, I decided to dip the casters in some liquid attract Oily Crab flavour and this turned things around, soon I got some takes as well. On the first take I pulled to strong (not being used to this kind of fishing) and broke several lines and hooks, but after an adjustment from my friend, I managed to net some bream as well.

Marc continued as he started with several more bream, a nice Koi carp and even an eel!! All caught on the soft hook & feed 6mm pellets.

I had quite of a lot of bream myself, and it was quite a day to remember, soon I’m going to take out Marc for a day carp fishing in Tervuren and I’ll gear him up this time, let’s see if he’s better on carping than poker.
