Preservative Free

Big Carp Want to Eat Natural Food, not Junk Food

Both Natural Carp Food and Carp Classic boilies are manufactured using our unique cooking process to ensure enhanced digestibility, maximum leakage of water-soluble attractants and to maintain preservative-free freshness without the need for freezing. To make carp food preservative-free, first you need to source only ingredients which are bacteria free, like human-grade eggs and milk products, Soya flours and the best quality fishmeal and fish proteins. Then, there’s our special, natural man-made food product which we use to preserve all the active components in a stable state. Bacteria can’t attack when it’s in this state, and throughout the boilie the ingredients remain fresh and full of life to do what they are designed to do; attract big carp to feed hard on a balanced diet of carbohydrates, fats, proteins and vitamins. This is our secret. We boil the mix to make the baits hard and kill more unwanted germs and we have a special bagging process to boost flavour leakage which in turn kills off airborne yeast.

Storing and Using your Carp Boilies

On receipt of delivery, store the boilies in your tackle bag ready for use. Alternatively if you prefer store them in your freezer it is perfectly safe to do so. However, freezing the shelf-life boilies will change the way the baits perform. Many field testers and anglers in England have preferred Ocean Fresh frozen boilies. These baits defrost in the water and release quicker. This makes them more water soluble and lets out more leakage of flavour whilst making the outer covering softer in the defrost process. Huge catch results have come from anglers fishing this way. Simply take your boilies in their original packaging and place them in the freezer. Then, on the day of fishing, take them directly to the bank and fish with them. Then you have to take them back and re-freeze or keep as shelf-life and use them to pre-bait as, once defrosted, the quality will change.

Natural boilies and Frozen Boilies

European field testers and many carp anglers in Holland, Belgium France and Germany have never fished with frozen boilies. They prefer carp bait that will stay fresh in highly changeable temperatures for many days and stay hard, leaking flavour as long as possible in those large continental waters. They are still to this day content on the high leakage flavour and will argue, truthfully, that they catch an equal to any frozen range on the market.

The topic of the frozen boilie is one that Ocean Fresh has considered for many years. The conclusion at which we finally arrived is that we should design, develop and sell just one kind of boilie; a boilie that can be fished either from frozen or not.

In the immortal words of whiskey-legend Johnnie Walker:

The best way to drink the finest whiskey is the way you like it.

The same applies to Ocean Fresh.
