Chubber

The chubber is a very buoyant, full-bodied float and is used primarily in fast or turbulent rivers, or for larger baits like bread flake, worms and luncheon meat. It has a large shotting capacity and allows bait to be trundled through your swim under control. The chubber is fixed to the line at the top and bottom.

Chubber Advice

I wouldnt use less than 4lb line straight through, but if barbel is possible then increase it to 6lb+. Remember, in these situations its not just the weight of the fish, but the added stress caused by the current.

Shotting the chubber is simple large bulk shot place together around two thirds down the line. Because of its body shape and the bulk shot down the line, youll be able to hold back hard on your float without it being dragged under by the current.

Barbel, chub and even dace, roach and grayling can all succumb to this method.
