Loop Method. (Ledgering)

This describes a method usually applied to feeder fishing. Attach a long length of line bout 24in (61cm) to your mainline using a 4 turn water knot. Place a snap swivel on the line, and then tie another knot two thirds along the added line, creating a long-ish loop. Tie a third knot to the end of your added line to create a second, smaller loop. You can also use a small rubber bead either side of the swivel to cushion the feeder against the knots.

This method is useful as it rarely tangles. I use a snap swivel as it allows me to change the feeder size if necessary, without having to break the line and retie the loops. The length of tail used (hooklink) is variable, but if you start out at about 18in and youre missing bites, or your bait is sucked or gone, you can reduce the length till you contact the fish.
